영화 출연에 이어 본업인 가수로 가요계도 정식 복귀하는 것일까. 그룹 2PM의 전 멤버 재범(사진)의 솔로 앨범 발매를 예고하는 버스 광고가 서울 시내에 등장했다.
서울 시내버스 외부에 부착된 광고의 내용은 박재범이 첫 솔로 앨범을 발매한다는 것. 최근 가요계에서도 흔히 쓰는 티저 형식을 띤 이 광고는 앨범의 발매 시점 등 구체적인 설명 없이 ‘박재범 다시 노래하다’라는 짤막한 문구와 그의 옆모습을 그린 삽화로 구성돼 있다.
버스 광고의 등장은 재범의 국내 입국과 맞물려 더욱 큰 궁금증을 낳고 있는 상황이다. 재범은 18일 한미 합작 영화인 ‘하이프 네이션’ 촬영차 9개월 만에 한국 땅을 밟았다.
문제의 광고를 두고 가요 관계자들 사이에서는 과연 누가 재범의 솔로 앨범을 제작하고 있는지 급히 수소문하는 등 한바탕 소동이 일어났다. 이와 관련해 여러 아이돌 그룹을 통해 많은 히트곡을 냈던 국내의 한 유명 작곡가가 재범의 새 앨범에 들어갈 노래 4곡을 쓰고 있다는 소문까지 나돌았다.
그러나 첫 솔로 앨범 발표설에 대한 재범 주변의 반응은 “잘 모르겠다”가 지배적이었다. 영화 ‘하이프 네이션’의 한 관계자는 22일 “재범에게 새 앨범 제작 소식을 듣지 못했다. 확인해보겠다”고 밝혔다. 그러나 재범의 한 측근은 이날 “음악에 대한 재범 개인의 욕심은 변함이 없다”라는 원론적이지만 의미심장한 말을 남기기도 했다.
‘재 범 버스 광고’의 정체는 그의 또 다른 측근을 통해 확인됐다. 팬들이 그의 입국에 맞춰 십시일반 돈을 모아 운영하고 있는 광고라는 것.
이 측근은 “서울 시내버스 전면에 한 달간 게재하는 조건이라고 들었다”며 “광고 시안을 만들고 집행하는 것까지 모두 팬들이 직접 나섰다”고 밝혔다. 덧붙여 이 측근은 “얼마 전 재범이 미국에서 녹음한 노래 ‘데몬’의 7월 한미 동시 발표를 팬들이 염두에 둔 것 같다”고 말했다. ‘데몬’(Demon)은 미국 프로듀서 테디 라일리의 작품으로 알려졌다.
관심 을 모았던 버스 광고가 팬들이 제작한 것으로 밝혀졌지만 실제 앨범 발표를 통한 가요계 복귀가 전혀 요원한 상황은 아니다. 재범의 측근은 이에 대해 “영화에 이어 국내 무대에 다시 서기 위한 논의가 조용히 진행 중인 것은 사실이다”고 귀띔했다.

Associates of the industry have been busily investigating which company is releasing Jaebum's solo album after seeing the bus advertisement. There has even been rumors circulating that a famous producer has even written four songs already for Jaebum's new album.
However, those associated with Jaebum have shown a quiet response, stating, "I'm not sure," when asked about the rumors regarding his first solo albm release.
An associate of Hype Nation spoke on the 22nd, "We have not yet heard anything from Jaebum regarding a new album in production. We will check for you."
However, another associate of Jaebum stated on the same day, "Jaebum's greed for music will not change," a rather confusing but theoretical answer.
The identity of Jaebum's bus advertisement has also been revealed to be a group of fans that have saved money for 14 days in accordance with Jaebum's entrance. The fansite has stated, "It will be advertised for one month on Seoul buses. From production to execution, the entire thing was done by the fans. We heard that Jaebum will be releasing 'Demon' in July in both America and Korea so the fans have prepared this in anticipation of that." Demon is produced by American producer, Teddy Riley.
Although it has been revealed that the bus advertisement was done by the fans, it does not seem too far off to say that Jaebum will be returning to the Korean music industry through an official album release.
